The Interspecies Council is coming to Hackney!
Join Phoebe Tickell and Louise Romain from Moral Imaginations at the Garden of Tomorrow Festival on Sat 15th June to experience multispecies, ecological democratic practice, the Interspecies Council!
The Interspecies Council is coming to Hackney, London!
In the not-so-distant future, an Interspecies Council is called in Hackney, London, faced with a critical challenge. People are called to queer their identities with the more-than-human, to bring the voice of nature into the process of deliberation to decide what should be done. Will you be one of them?
Never heard of an Interspecies Council? Created in 2022, this deliberative practice and artform brings the voice of Nature into the room of decision making. It is a new form of ecological, multispecies governance that brings embodiment, imagination and play into decision making.
The participatory and semi-improvisational role-play brings alive our inherent connection to Nature, and allows the more-than-human viewpoint to join the deliberative process and decision making. It has been trialled in organisations, local councils, communities, and even the UK government.
To read more about the Interspecies Council hosted with the UK government last year, have a look at this article.
We look forward to having you with us at the Garden of Tomorrow Festival on Saturday June 15th, 10:00-11:30 at The Last Days Shoreditch (entry via House of Hackney, St Michael’s Clergy House, Mark Street, EC2A 4ER). The closest tube stations are: Old Street, London Liverpool Street.
